Creates history by becoming first Indian racer to winpodium in Asia Dream Cup of Road Racing Championship
Once again Honda has nurtured Indian talent to realize their dreams at world platform. Honda sponsored Indian motorcycle professional racer S Sarath Kumar today become the first Indianracer to clinch podium victoryin theHonda Asia Dream Cup Road Racing Championship 2014.Becoming the first Indian rider to win podium position, an excited Sarath received the trophy while wrapped in the Indian tri-colour.
Honda Asia Dream Cup is an intense 6 round motorcycle racing championship where 18 racers from 10 countries across Asia (Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, China, Philippines, Sri Lanka and India) raced on specially modified CBR 250Rs in Asia’s best race tracks in Malaysia, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia and Qatar.
From winning the Triple Crown in World’s most competitive Moto GP racing Championship, Honda aims to develop motorsport riders across the world. In India, Honda nurtures Indian racers through Honda One Make race platform. Asia Dream Cup is the next step of Honda Motor Company, Japan to promote and develop motorsport skills amongst Asian riders. Here, HMSI has sponsored 3 budding racers from India to compete with Asia’s best racers and improve their racing skill too.
The final 6th round at Losial International Circuit, Qatar saw 22 year old Sarath Kumar from Chennai finished second in the CBR 250R. In his trademark aggressive racing style, Sarath thrilled audiences with his skillful maneuver and bursts of speed. Continuing his momentum, he edged out his nearest competitor Mori Syunya Mori from Japan by a wafer-thin margin of 0:034 seconds. Sarath timed just 02:32:560 minutes for his fastest of 9 laps feat.
Sarath Kumar is the current National champion rider in CBR 250R category of Honda One Make Championship. The trio of Indian riders that Honda is sponsoring for Asia Dream Cup also include 23 year old Ranchi boySumitLoucsToppo(who finished 8th in overall Championship) and 24 year old racing star ArunagiriPrabhu (17th position) from Chennai.
